Dear floodge,

Thanks for your kinds words about my recipes.

On the subject of tips for 2 year old's...It's difficult to make many recommendations without more details..so please feel free to email me privately if you wish.
Generally speaking I try very hard with my daughter on the issue of food to broaden her choices as much as possible. I think many parents give in too much on food issues...here's my quick list of do's and don'ts...Not a miracle cure but things that have worked for me. I hope anyone reading this will find some or all of this reply helpful.

Do's
Keep their drink choices down to fruit juices (apple, orange, mango (organic if poss)water, ribena and don't let them fill up on drinks before they eat.

Make an effort to sit down and eat as a family as much as possible to give eating a social structure, which helps encourage communication.

Reward and encourage good table manners this definately has a bearing on their eating habits.

Be consistant, if you tell your child they must eat their dinner before they get pudding then stick to it!

Even sleep patterns can have bearing on eating habits, so try to make sure your kids get enough sleep...the only exception I make to bedtimes is when I'm on holiday.

Ensure that other family members are re-enforcing your good habits not underminding them, unintentionally.

Don'ts
Do not transfer your own food likes and dislikes to your children...with phrases such as you don't have to eat that if you don't want to.

Sometimes times good progress can be followed by bad influences of other kids from nursury for instance, so be softly spoken but very determinded.

No junk food (I mean no visits to Micky D's or other purveyors of bad food).

I know as a busy parent it is difficult but read labels,
No E numbers or artificle additives. For example I used to allow Felicia to have Pringles and found that 10 minutes later she was bouncing off the walls from the chemical content.

Don't let your child eat infront of the TV...I know its the easy option...we can easily go to seperate corners of the house to eat our TV dinners whilst watching TV or playing computer games etc. This underminds the value you wish your child to place on good eating habits.

Just like adults kids always have foods that are favourite but that does not mean they wont try new things if you pay attention to their responses.
